Iranian ‘Turbid’ wins award at Japanese fest

Iranian ‘Turbid’ wins award at the Rising Sun Int’l Film Festival in Japan.

Iranian short flick ‘Turbid’ has garnered the Best Actor award at the 2nd edition of the Rising Sun International Film Festival (RSIFF) in Japan.

Iman Afsharian received the award for his performance in the 23-minute film, directed by Abouzar Paknejad.

A short synopsis on the film reads, “Released from prison after seven years, Nader comes back to live with his wife and daughter. After spending some days at home, he gets suspicious of his wife’s job and has to leave the house at the end.”

The RSIFF website’s comment on the film reads, “A very powerful film with incredible performances, this movie will surprise you! With themes of family, change and empowerment this film from Iran is a quite amazing introduction to cinema from that region.”

The cast of the film includes Roya Bakhtiari, Mahdieh Rezaeean, Mahboubeh Yazdani, Behzad Hajhassani, and Seyyed-Ashraf Tabatabaee.

The RSIFF aims to present the world’s best movies to the audience. The three-day festival hosts films and filmmakers from around the world.

The latest edition of the RSIFF was held on November 6-8, 2020.
